About
So what is this all about?
The idea itself is simple enough. As I get older and look back at just how naive I was only a few years ago I’m finally beginning to realize that all the wisdom my elders have been trying to impart on me has had a purpose, and wasn’t just to show off what they know. (Though I still believe that is part of it.)
The fact of the matter is that many of my successful coworkers are subscribers to the theory that buying a lunch can pay dividends. Whether it is a potential client, a successful icon or role model, or simply an elder with a lesson to share - the knowledge you can gain is worth far more than the cost of the lunch.
It is a process I’ve used with success in business, and now that I’m building Lunch A Day out I’m shocked that I haven’t thought of applying this more to my personal life sooner. The concept behind Lunch A Day is simply to learn. From people in all walks of life, anyone with a lesson to impart will find me more than willing to listen. And I figured while I’m at it, why not share the knowledge with anyone else who cares to participate. That is why Lunch A Day is here.
I’ll be taking said people out to lunch, taking a picture (most likely with my blackberry, so if the shot isn’t great my apologies, I’m no photographer) and asking them a few background questions about themselves, and then listening to the advice they impart. I’ll take notes and put the full story up here.
Ideally I’d do this 5 days a week, but with work I don’t foresee that happening. Instead I’ll aim to post two or three a week with a few editorial postings in between. Please chime in if you have thoughts, ideas or would like to suggest or introduce someone for lunch!
If you like Lunch A Day, please help me buy a lunch.
